Online designer from reclaimed fabrics migrates to Magento 2

Modern fabrics has been catering to eco-conscious consumers since 25 years, chooses HumCommerce to grow from their small business Avactis store to Adobe Commerce. 

About the company

Modern fabrics is a family run business which reclaims and collects new fabrics from the finest luxury furniture companies throughout the United States and offer them at 50-75% off list price. 

The challenges

Modern Fabrics was based on Avactis (a product of our parent company) which was running fine for their small business for years. They wanted to scale up to a modern platform with responsive design similar to the existing website. 

As the fabric is reclaimed there were constraints on yardage and SKUs. Inventory control was of prime importance with clear visual images of fabric designs. 

Existing product data had to be remodelled into Magento 2 data structure & all data had to be migrated with proper filters on brands, yardage and designs. 

We have been very lucky to have built our first online store with Avactis 10 years ago! As a vigilant company they also recommended we upgrade our shopping cart. While we were hesitant to make this big change, it has proved to be the best decision. The team was there every step of the way while we developed and launched our new site. Despite the distance and time difference the work flow was very smooth. On the day of the new website going live, the entire team worked tirelessly to troubleshoot any small issues and to fix anything at any hour (I still don’t know when they sleep). While our new shopping cart is still young, I can already see the difference in traffic and sales. Switching to a new shopping cart gave me new excitement about making new improvements and changes to our site.
